Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali

On arrival into Kigali you will be met by our VIP Airport assistance team and transferred to the hotel.

Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel (Bed and Breakfast)

 

Days 2-3: Akagera National Park

In the morning you will be transferred around 4hrs to Magashi Camp in Akagera National Park where you stay for two nights. (Shared helicopter transfers available at extra cost).

Throughout your stay enjoy shared game drives, boat cruises and walking safaris within Magashi’s private reserve which is home to leopard, lions, Buffalo, hyena, elephant, antelope, honey badgers, porcupines, giraffe, zebra and a variety of birdlife.

Overnight: Magashi Camp (Fully Inclusive – All Meals, Fees, Activities and Local Drinks)

 

Day 4: Kigali

Enjoy a game drive as you exit the park on a shared transfer to Kigali.

The shuttle drops off at the Kigali Serena Hotel around 2.30pm, where you stay for one night.

Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel (Bed and Breakfast)

 

Days 5-6: Nyungwe Forest National Park

Depart on a shared flight to Nyungwe National Park, where you stay for two nights at a luxurious lodge set within a lush tea-plantation.

Guests at the resort can choose from a selection of inclusive in-house activities including nature walks, community tours, tea plantation tours and tea-tasting experiences.

After lunch, venture onto the tree-top canopy bridge walk situated 50m above the ground. Enjoy a birds-eye view of the rainforest.

On Day 6, trek the chimpanzees and view the flora, fauna, insects and bird-life of the rainforest. Rwanda is home to around 400 chimpanzees however sightings are not guaranteed since the chimps move quickly and spend most of their time in the trees. (Optional / alternative / colobus monkey trekking).

Day 7: Gisenyi

Transfer to Lake Kivu where you stay for one night.

A variety of activities are available at the hotel, including cycling tours or tea plantation visits.  Your guide will be happy to make suggestions and arrangements for you.

Overnight: Lake Kivu Serena Hotel (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

 

Day 8: Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a boat cruise on the lake or those seeking a little more activity may wish to cycle part of the Congo Nile trail.

In the afternoon, make your way to the Volcanoes National Park where you stay for two nights at the super-deluxe eco-lodge, BISATE.

Day 9: Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy the wildlife encounter of a lifetime as you trek the mountain gorillas.

You will join a group of up to eight people and spend one hour observing the gorillas. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest watching these gentle giants. It is amazing to think there are only around 1000 of these beautiful creatures left but numbers are growing!

After trekking enjoy the inclusive community tours and activities available from Bisate Lodge including the nature trail, tree-planting and guided village walk.

Day 10: End of Itinerary

In the morning, return to the trekking HQ to trek the golden monkeys. They are a delight to watch as they spring from tree to tree with their bright bushy tails.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch (included) before transferring back to Kigali. We will drop off at the airport or a city hotel.
