Day 1: Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy a city tour of Kigali (genocide memorial entrance included).

After touring the city, transfer with your private guide to your accommodation on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park.

In the afternoon, you will be taken on a guided village walk to meet the local communities. This is also an excellent opportunity to view Rwandan way of life as the women demonstrate basket weaving, cooking and crafts.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy the wildlife encounter of a lifetime as you trek the majestic mountain gorillas.

You will join a group of no more than eight people in total as you spend one hour observing the gorillas. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest watching these gentle giants. It is amazing to think there are only around 1,000 of these beautiful creatures left but numbers are growing!

In the afternoon, you will be taken on a boat cruise on the beautiful twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 3: Gisenyi

Spend the morning trekking the golden monkeys as they spring from tree to tree with their bright bushy tails.

After lunch at you will be transferred around two hours to Gisenyi where you stay for two nights.

Facilities at the Lake Kivu Serena hotel include a private beach, gym, tennis courts, outdoor pool and spa centre. A variety of additional activities are available from the hotel including cycling tours or tea plantation visits.

Day 4: Gisenyi

Spend the day exploring the picturesque fishing villages along this scenic region of Lake Kivu. Enjoy a boat trip to the hot springs before returning to your hotel to enjoy the views as the sun sets over the beach.

Additional activities are available including cycling the Congo-Nile trail, water skiing, fishing trips and hiking trails – discuss with your guide on the day.

Day 5: End of Itinerary

After breakfast transfer with your guide around 3 hours back to Kigali where you continue with your own flight arrangements.
