Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Akagera National Park

In the morning you will be met and transferred around 2.5-3hrs to Akagera National Park where you stay for two nights.

Akagera National Park is located along the eastern border of Rwanda. The lakes and marshland create a lush and beautiful landscape which is home to a variety of wildlife including the endangered Black Rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, hippo, zebra and giraffe. Explore by road or boat and discover one of Africa’s hidden gems.

Overnight: Akagera Game Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) 

 

Day 2: Akagera National Park

Enjoy an early morning game drive exploring the park before enjoying an afternoon safari boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Keep an eye out for the giant Nile crocodiles and giant shoebill, the park has nearly 500 species of birds!

Overnight: Akagera Game Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) 

 

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy a morning game drive in the southern sector of the park, before transferring to Kigali city where lunch is included at the famous HEAVEN RESTAURANT with it’s colourful artwork and authentic Rwandan cuisine.

There may be time for a little sightseeing in the city before you continue onward to the Volcanoes National Park, where you stay for two nights at a friendly owner-run lodge.

Overnight: Villa Gorilla Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) 

 

Day 4: Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy the wildlife encounter of a lifetime as you trek the majestic mountain gorillas.

You will join a group of no more than eight people in total as you spend one hour observing the gorillas. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest watching these gentle giants. It is amazing to think there are only around 1,000 of these beautiful creatures left but numbers are growing!

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the beautiful twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo.

Overnight: Villa Gorilla Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) 

 

Day 5: End of Itinerary

In the morning, return to the trekking HQ to trek the golden monkeys. The playful golden monkeys are a delight to watch as they spring from tree to tree with their bright bushy tails!

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch (included) before transferring back to Kigali. We will drop off at the airport or a city hotel.

** Flight departing after 6:00pm is required.

** Those not wishing to trek the monkeys can deduct $100 per person from the total price. **
