Nile Perch Fishing

For the fisherfolk amongst you, a trip on Lake Victoria for a spot of Nile perch fishing is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. These fish, the largest freshwater species in the world, can, in fact reach up to 80 kilograms, and won’t be caught without a fight.

Perhaps the greatest thing after catching them is the euphoria you feel when releasing these magnificent animals back into the wild under a strict catch and release policy.

All fishing trips are coordinated through Wild Frontiers, a local company with 12 years’ experience out on the lake. They go to great lengths to stress that Nile perch fishing is not for seasoned anglers alone. Their experienced staff will go out of their way to make even the most novice fisherman enjoy their time out on the lake. With just a little bit of luck and some expert guidance, you may land that 80-kilogram monster!

Both full day and half day trips can be arranged and depart from Entebbe with up to eight hours spent on the water. All equipment including lines and fishing lures are provided while the boats used are all twin-engined speedboats around 6-10 metres in length. They can accommodate four fishermen at a time. For a smaller party of 2-3 fishermen, smaller 7-metre long fiberglass boats are used.

From a safety aspect, all boats have a sun canopy, mobile phone, first aid box and fire extinguisher while every angler will be required to wear a life jacket. For more information on half or full day fishing trips speak to your driver/team leader.
