Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali

On arrival into Kigali, you will be met and privately transferred to your hotel where you stay for one night.

Overnight: Chez Lando Hotel (Bed and Breakfast)

 

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast enjoy a city tour of Kigali (genocide memorial entrance included) before transferring to Volcanoes National Park.

Overnight: Ingagi Park View Safari Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

 

Day 3: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

This morning you will be transferred to the trekking headquarters for your golden monkey encounter. Rwanda is one of the best locations to view these cheeky primates and they are a joy to watch.

In the afternoon, journey to the Cyanika border, where you cross into Uganda. Continue on to Mgahinga National Park.

Each guest receives a 30 minute complimentary massage, so what better way to relax and unwind as you enjoy the volcanoes views!

Day 4: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Today, head back to the trekking HQ where you embark on the wildlife adventure of a lifetime trekking the mountain gorillas of Mgahinga National Park.

After the trek you may wish to book a community and cultural tour visiting the BATWA tribe. Learn about the history and unique culture through demonstrations of tribal dancing and hunting techniques of old (extra cost applies).

Day 5: Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast you will be transferred to the southern sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park, known as the Ishasha sector, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions.

Overnight: Enjojo Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) 

 

Day 6: Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a morning game drive in Ishasha you will be transferred to the Mweya region of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

In the afternoon, join a shared boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which is home to one of the largest Hippo populations in Africa. In addition to a wealth of exotic bird life, elephants, buffalo, and giant crocodiles are also regularly sighted on the banks.

Day 7: Kibale Forest National Park

In the morning you will be taken on a private game drive in the Queen Elizabeth Park before transferring to the outskirts of Kibale Forest.

Time permitting you may wish to visit the Bigodi wetland sanctuary (extra cost applies).

Overnight: Turaco Treetop Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

 

Day 8: Hoima

This morning you trek the chimpanzees of Kibale Forest. Be prepared for an exciting hike in the forest. The pace is a little faster than for the gorillas since the chimps move quickly through the trees.

In the afternoon, transfer to Hoima en-route to Murchison Falls. The lush gardens are a tranquil place in the centre of a busy cultural hub. Cycling and walking tours are available.

Day 9: Murchison Falls National Park

Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. The panoramic drive takes you through the famous Luwero Triangle. Your journey will be broken with a stop for lunch and to view the top of the waterfalls before reaching the lodge.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Murchison Falls offers the best game viewing in Uganda with sightings of lions, giraffe, leopard, elephant, buffalo, Ugandan kob, hartbeest, forest hogs, crocodile and hippos.

Time permitting you may wish to visit the Boomu Women’s group, specialising in African art and crafts; a perfect place for authentic Ugandan souvenirs.

Day 10: Murchison Falls National Park

Enjoy an early morning private game drive, followed by an afternoon boat cruise at Murchison Falls.

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest National Park and derives it’s name from the mighty waterfalls where the River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows to join a placid river through the centre of the park towards Lake Albert.

The area is home to an astonishing biodiversity of wildlife with dense rainforest and open savannah. Chimpanzee are also found here in Budongo Forest and you can see just about every type of bird including the Giant Shoebill.

Day 11: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

This morning you will transfer to Amuka Lodge.

Amuka Lodge is the only lodge located within the private rhino sanctuary known as ZIWA Rhino Project, which is home to over 30 white rhino.

In the afternoon a ranger will take you on foot to view the rhinos as they roam semi-wild on the reserve. This is an opportunity to get very close to one of the Big-5 and, if you are lucky, you might see them later roaming the lodge grounds. Leopard are also occasionally sighted too.

Overnight: Amuka Lodge (Full Board – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

 

Day 12: End of Itinerary 

There will be an opportunity to take a morning canoe trip which is an excellent chance to spot the shoebill and other endemic birds and smaller wildlife.

Transfer back to Entebbe where you continue with your onward arrangements.
